Why do people pursue higher education?

Why do people attend college or university?

Not long ago, only partial high school students continued their education because post-secondary schools were not affordable to some families, or in other cases higher education was not a necessity to them. However, more and more people choose to attend college or university nowadays even if they will be in debt. I believe there are three reasons why students would choose to attend college or university.

One benefit of having a post-secondary diploma is higher salary. Generally, when students finish their college or university, they get paid more than high school students because more education means more knowledge or even more valuable skills sometimes.

The other crucial reason is more job opportunities. Nowadays, many employers put "post-secondary degree or diploma" under job qualification. It doesn't mean that students with high school diploma will not be able to find a job, but it's harder in a way.

For students already know what kind of a career they are looking for, but lack knowledge in the field, by studying at a college or university helps them connect with the industry or profession. Higher education provide the skill and knowledge students need in the workplace.

Attending college or university prepares students for their career; also, higher salary and more job opportunities await them in the future. Due to those reasons, more and more students would rather choose to continue their education after high school.
