It was my first time seeing the Gay Pride Parade yesterday. I'm glad I went there and witness all the fun stuff and the profound meaning behind it!
When I got to Burrard Station, it already passed 12pm. Somehow I was really determined to witness the parade, so I hurried. It's funny that I had to make all kinds of decisions along the way. I knew the parade started at Robson St., and I heard the music and people dancing while I passed by. However, I didn't stop walking because I really wanted to see the parade from the beginning. Thus, I continued walking. When I finally got to the end route of the parade, it was 12:45 p.m. and both sides of the street were crowded with people. I couldn't find a good spot! Anyway, I was stubborn enough to keep looking until I sort of can see what was going on. I guess if I didn't keep looking I would regret that later.
The Gay Pride Parade is an annual event and this is the 34th year of celebration. It's great to see the Canadians embrace their difference because not every country treats LGBT people equally. It's the respect that I admire. What makes the society growing strong is the bond between people and the love among them.
